Mother’s Day, social media, babies and dust
Today is mother’s day. Yesterday was mother’s day in Mexico. (Second Sunday in May in the U.S.; always May 10th in Mexico.)
Facebook is replete with homages to moms.
My nephew’s wife announced on Facebook today that they were expecting their second child. Congrats!
Yesterday a “friend” on Facebook announced the death of her father. I still have very mixed feelings about death notices on social media. One can only hope the immediate family and close friends find out in a more personal way. Or perhaps I’m just old fashioned. With the amount of sharing that happens in social media, who’s to say what is and isn’t appropriate? However, I do find myself “unfollowing” almost everyone. I really like most people better in person without having how I feel about them tainted by their careless or excessive postings!
I went shopping at Trader Joe’s earlier today, and there were young adults with expressions of quiet desperation clutching bottles of wine and floral bouquets or an orchid. Happy Mother’s Day all!
It’s windy and dusty here in Baja Arizona today. Better move Mom’s party off the patio and back inside!
